1st implantable SAW sensor for medical application
The goal of this project is to design and develop a new implantable sensor structure based on Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology.
SENSeOR today develops SAW sensors for the measurement of pressure, temperature, stress and chemical detection.
These sensors will be adapted to the measurement of blood pressure, and to the biological environment in which they will be placed; the remote interrogation device via RF link will also be studied.
Developed in partnership between microelectronic teams and medical teams, this sensor will meet the main expectations of the market, namely:
– Improve the health, comfort and safety of patients,
– Develop miniature implantable devices without battery,
– Respond to the needs of clinical situations for which blood pressure monitoring will trigger alarms in case of emergency and adapt the treatment accordingly,
– Perform long-term monitoring without additional surgical procedures. Home monitoring will also be possible,
Anticipate future needs for remote patient monitoring systems.
