Virtualization of the physical elements of the network to address the test in charge of next generation mobile networks
The concept of Cloud Radio operator Access Network (NOTCH) is an axis privileged by the operators and the equipment suppliers to address the challenges of reduction of OPEX and CAPEX of the new generations of mobile networks. The 5G is preceded indeed more like an optimization and a thickening of the architecture of the 4G that like a change in form of wave. This evolution of architecture passes by the cloudification of the elements of the network. In this project we widen the concept of cloud RAN to the platform of test in charge of the mobile networks like with the dynamic deployment of HeNodeB (Home eNodeB, base station installed at a individual).
The objectives of the project are the following:
- To make evolve platforms of test in charge of the mobile networks to take into account the cloudification of the network like its corollary: thickening.
- To develop a platform NOTCH of reference in free software to explore the performance profits, of energy, and costs associated with collaboratifs treatments and centralized.
- Finally to show that the concepts of Cloud RAN can be declined to deploy HeNodeB entities easily in the boxes of Internet access.
Consortium “ELASTIC” brings together two industrialists ERCOM (optimization of the mobile networks) and VIRTUOR (deployment of virtual networks), as well as two academic actors EURECOM and LIP6 which contribute to the development of the platform NOTCH and its algorithms of orchestration. It also associates the Association Platform Telecom for the experimental shutter of the project which rests on the use of the means and resources of the pooled platform Com4innov, of the association Platform Telecom, like on the Open platform Air of Eurecom. This consortium is supplemented by a group of users of which the Orange operators and Monaco Telecom belong.
