Develop a secure microcontroller ("Secure Microcontroller - SMCU")
The objective of project SECURIOT is to develop a secure microcontroller (“Secure Microcontroller – SMCU”) to bring to the next generations of equipment for IoT and connected objects, a raised security level, inspired by that currently deployed in the circuits for the banking transactions and transport (smart cards) and the identification (passports). While ensuring the necessary security services (management of keys, authentication, confidentiality and integrity of the stored and exchanged data), the “SMCU” has characteristics of very low fuel consumption and functions of specific management of energy of the needs for the connected objects and IoT.
In 2020, the number of connected objects could reach between 50 and 80 billion in the world according to the many publications available. However, a recent study of Hewlett Packard (Internet Of Things Security Research – 2015) indicates that 90% of the objects collect data which are exposed, 80% of the objects do not use a mechanism of identification and from authentication and 70% do not use a mechanism of coding of the transmitted data. The recent attacks published which exploit the objects connected like the cameras or the sensors confirm this report and the danger which their vulnerability represents.
The tests join together complementary competences to define a range of secure platforms of reference, integrating not only resources of treatments, communication, food and capture of information, but also of the material and software resources able to meet the needs for the uses and application of IoT as regards security, without compromising connectivity, the performances and the price of the equipment. The project will be focused on the fields application of the connected house and health, and the club of the users will make it possible to approach other fields like the distribution of energy.
