Super-directivity for radiation control of communicating objects.

By focusing the radiation in the useful directions, the directional antennas allow the control of the zones covered by the service and the reduction of the electromagnetic pollution outside the zones of interest. Outside, conventional techniques for establishing directivity often result in a significant increase in the size of the antenna. The SOCRATE project aims to develop innovative miniature antennas and UHF band directives for which integration into objects of a few centimeters is critical. Two types of application are targeted: the pointing where the directivity of the antenna is used to designate the object to which it is desired to communicate and the traceability of articles where the increase of the directivity of the compact RFID readers will make it possible to locate the “tagged” objects in the environment.
